AFL’s most famous fan was found living in Redbank Plains after he received a 12-month suspended sentence for performing a “depraved” sexual act on a child at his home in January 2005.

The former leader of Collingwood’s cheer squad, Corfe said that he is getting on with his life in the Sunshine State after pleading guilty last year to abusing a 14-year-old boy nearly two decades ago.

“I’m no danger, believe me I’m no danger to anyone. One day I’ll sit down with someone and have a really good talk about this,” he told 7 News.

“Until then it’s just get on with my life … just to live a quiet life up here with my family and grandkids, that's about it really.

“I‘ve got a wonderful family, I’ve got wonderful friends in Victoria and even Brisbane, so look, it’s just getting on with things.”

Judge Gerard Mullaly on Monday said Mr Corfe’s victim, who cannot be named, lived a life of anxiety, depression and low self-esteem following the assault.

Mr Corge did not having any words for his victim saying that he “will talk soon, but not at the moment”.

Locals were unaware the convicted sex offender was living in their community.

“I think sometimes the perpetrators have more rights than the victims do,” said one Ipswich resident.

“If there‘s someone like that in this area people should know because it’s a lot of kids and families around,” another commented.

Judge Mullaly told the court that the victim emailed Corfe before he offered to perform oral sex on the child despite knowing the boy could not consent.

“It was you who introduced the sexualised element,” Judge Mullaly said.

Judge Mullaly described the significant age difference, and how Corfe was said to have lied to the child and claimed to be younger than he was.

Judge Mullaly read aloud the victim’s impact statement, saying “for 15 years I blamed myself for what happened” and the assault “planted something so toxic in my mind”.

“You were the adult, and you should not have exploited the victim’s immaturity,” the judge said.

“You put your own sexual gratification above all else.”

Judge Mullaly said Corfe was one of seven children who had endured poverty and neglect, and family members, including his daughter, gave strong statements of support.

He said Corfe was experiencing significant heart problems and his risk of reoffending was low.

“This was a one-off event,” Judge Mullaly said.

Corfe became an icon of Melbourne’s AFL circles sporting a sparkly gold jacket when Collingwood neared a victory.
