On what would have been Hannah Clarke’s 33rd birthday, her mother Sue has shared a touching tribute to her late daughter.

“Happy birthday to our beautiful and strong baby girl,” Mrs Clarke wrote on their foundation’s Facebook page.

“Some days I wish there were no Small Steps 4 Hannah as that would mean you would still be here with us.

“You were loved long before you were born, you were my best friend, my ally and you were the apple of your father’s eye.

“We are so proud of you and as another birthday passes without you here we cannot help but miss you more and more every day. Love Mum.”

The deaths of Hannah and her children Aaliyah, 6, Laianah, 4, and Trey, 3, left a nation in mourning and sparked a conversation around the importance of legislating against coercive control.

But her legacy has lived on through the foundation, that is dedicated to advocating for victims of domestic and family violence.

More than 18 months after their horrific deaths, family and domestic violence continues to traumatise Australians.

Angela Silk was allegedly stabbed to death by her “on again off again” boyfriend Alexander George O’Sachy in Brisbane on Monday – the same day that the National Women’s Safety Summit was launched.

O’Sachy, 43, was charged with one count of murder (domestic violence offence), and faced court on Wednesday over the 45-year-old’s death.

“The death of any person in such circumstances is a tragedy,” Detective Superintendent Tony Fleming said on Tuesday.

“It’s not lost on me that this happened on the same day as the National Women’s Safety Summit was commencing in Canberra.”

The summit will be used to inform the next five-year plan to prevent domestic and sexual violence.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison opened the summit with a speech revealing he had been inundated with letters from Australian women sharing the “most anguished and personal experiences of their lives”.

“Our country must become a place where every woman feels safe and can live free of fear,” he said.

“That is every woman’s right. But it is far from every woman’s reality as we know.”
