A man previously linked to three mysterious deaths has appeared in court charged with the murder of his “on again, off again” girlfriend Angela Silk.

Alexander George O’Sachy was on Tuesday night charged with one count of murder (domestic violence offence), after police spent the day interviewing the 43-year-old over Ms Silk’s alleged stabbing death.

O’Sachy had previously been linked to two deaths ruled as suicides and a third ruled as a drug overdose between the years of 2005 and 2011 following coronial investigations.

Those investigations, however, determined O’Sachy was not responsible for any of the three deaths of two former girlfriends and a teenage boy, who was known to him.

On Tuesday, 24 hours after Ms Silk’s death, police charged O’Sachy with murder. A forensics team were back at O’Sachy’s house on Wednesday morning and the property remained cordoned off with police tape.

Police will allege Ms Silk, a mother of three and a grandmother of three, was stabbed to death at O’Sachy’s Wishart Rd, Upper Mount Gravatt home.

O’Sachy appeared briefly in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning charged with murder (domestic violence offence).

He did not speak except to say “good morning your honour”.

A bail application cannot be made for murder in the Magistrates Court.

His lawyer Tania Lacy sought an adjournment to October 18. O’Sachy was remanded in custody by Magistrate Elizabeth Hall.

Police will allege they found a blood-soaked doona in the washing machine and blood in a bucket at the scene.

They will further allege Ms Silk had wounds to the back of her thigh which do not correspond to self harm and there were inconsistencies in O’Sachy’s account of what occurred.

Ms Silk’s brother Tony Silk told The Courier-Mail his sister had led a “troubled” life but had recently taken steps to turn things around.

“She is my little sister and I love her,” he said.

“She has had a troubled life, but recently reconnected with family and was on the mend.

“I only wish she would have come up to me in the Northern Territory last year as she wanted to.

“RIP my little sister.”

Queensland Police Detective Superintendent Tony Fleming on Tuesday morning said a post-mortem examination would be the key in determining exactly how Ms Silk’s death had occurred.

“I expect that the examination by the forensic pathologist will be critical to our investigation,” he said.

O’Sachy spent Tuesday with homicide investigators before he was charged and remanded in custody.

Det Supt Fleming said police were aware of previous incidents at O’Sachy’s house, however said they did not appear to be linked to Ms Silk’s death.

“There is some history at that address over the years,” Det Supt Fleming said.

“There are things in years past that don’t appear to be relevant to this investigation at this time, but we’re looking at those.”

Ms Silk’s alleged murder happened at the same home where O’Sachy’s 15-year-old girlfriend died as the result of a hanging 15 years ago – almost to the day.

The Mt Gravatt house was then occupied by O’Sachy, who has since bought the property from his family.

The coroner ruled it was likely teenager Leanne Thompson took her own life on September 7, 2006 while inside the home where O’Sachy lived.

Ms Silk, 45, appeared to discover O’Sachy’s link to Miss Thompson’s death 10 weeks ago when she posted on a social media group asking for information.

In the group, run by Miss Thompson’s mother, Ms Silk asked “do I need to know more about this?”

While in 2005, O’Sachy’s 14-year-old friend Andrew Scott Anderson shot himself in the head while on a call to his father.

He died two days later – just six weeks before his 15th birthday.

An inquest into the teen’s death found the day before he shot himself, the boy had been drinking and doing drugs at O’Sachy’s home.

Six years later, emergency services were alerted to the death of a woman – who would later be revealed as O’Sachy’s girlfriend Lauren Howarth.

Ms Howarth’s death was ruled as a drug overdose despite her mother raising concerns to the coroner over O’Sachy and her daughter’s relationship.

“During the course of the coronial investigation, Ms Howarth’s mother has raised a number of concerns regarding the circumstances of her daughter’s death,” the coroner stated in the non-inquest findings.

Despite issues raised by Ms Howarth’s mother, the coroner ruled the death as a drug overdose.

O’Sachy will face Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday, charged with one count of murder in relation to Ms Silk’s death.
