Senior Constable David Masters, who was killed in the line of duty last week, will be farewelled at a funeral with full police honours if Covid-19 restrictions ease next week.
The police officer was killed while using tyre-deflating stingers to stop an alleged stolen vehicle on the Bruce Highway at Burpengary about 3am last Saturday.
Police allege Skye Wallis, 33, was driving the car and have charged her with murder. Her passenger Kari O’Brien, 24, has also been charged with murder.
Police are aiming for a funeral with full police honours – with a guard of honour – however are monitoring Covid-19 constraints.
Queensland Police Union president Ian Leavers said Sen Const Masters “made the ultimate sacrifice to keep the community safe”.
“We as police want to celebrate his life and ensure Dave receives full police honours so we are hoping Covid restrictions will not impact upon all police being able to attend and pay the respect to Dave that he and his sacrifice deserve,” he said.
The funeral for Sen Const Masters will be held at Traditional Funerals on Morayfield Rd in Burpengary on Friday, July 9, at 12.30pm.
