Exclusive photos capture moment brothers Codye Thomson, Kaine Thomson Gleeson questioned by police after alleged murder

Exclusive photographs have captured the moment two brothers, now wanted over the alleged murder of a young woman at Caboolture, were taken away for questioning by police just hours after the horror shooting.

It comes after Queensland Police revealed brothers - Codye Thomson, 29, and Kaine Thomson-Gleeson, 32, were questioned and released without charge, the same day Chloe Jade “CJ” Mason was murdered.

Chloe Jade “CJ” Mason, 23, was allegedly chased by two men and shot dead on Railway Parade shortly after midnight on December 22.

Police provided CPR and first aid but she was declared dead at the scene.

The Thomson brothers were photographed by The Courier-Mail on the steps of a Railway Parade property later that day.

Detective Inspector David Harbison on Friday said the brothers — who spoke to detectives after the murder — were seen in New South Wales on December 30.

The brothers were last seen in a white Commodore station wagon with Queensland registration 953 HO4.

“These men are believed to be together and are currently in hiding,” Det Insp Harbison said.

“The two male persons sought by police were located and interviewed as witnesses on that date along with a number of other witnesses.

“Those male persons were subsequently interviewed and released without charge, pending further investigations.

“At that early stage of the investigation there was simply insufficient evidence available to indicate their involvement with this homicide.”

Det Insp Harbison said police now had further information, leading to the murder arrest warrants, and detectives were “satisfied they had sufficient evidence” to bring the brothers before court.

He said police had also found a rifle in the street which was still undergoing forensic testing.

“The investigation has now established that the deceased was known to these male persons,” Det Insp Harbison said.

“The deceased attended a Railway Parade and an altercation occurred.

“It is alleged the deceased received a gunshot wound during that altercation and subsequently died.”

The brothers travelled through Chinderah in northern NSW on December 30 and then as far south as Kempsey, Det Insp Harbison said.

They were believed to be camping or sleeping rough, he said.

Det Insp Harbison urged the “dangerous” brothers to hand themselves in and urged members of the public to not approach them.

“I would urge these wanted persons to hand themselves in to the nearest police station.

“Otherwise police will continue to hunt you, you will be found and arrested on our terms, using the appropriate use of force options available or required in the circumstances,” he said.

“We consider them dangerous, they know they’re wanted for the murder of Chloe. We fear they will go to lengths to avoid apprehension.”

Detectives from Caboolture Criminal Investigation Branch last week released CCTV from the street as they continue to appeal for further information.

The Courier-Mail previously revealed that Ms Mason’s former partner Kane Anderson was fatally stabbed in a brawl on Australia Day, 2020.
