Police probe continues into Sippy Downs fatal crash

The community has rallied around the family of a 23-year-old motorbike rider who was tragically killed in a crash, coming together to raise funds for the Palmview man’s funeral.

Jayk Allen was killed on Sunday morning when his motorbike crashed into a car towing a boat on Albany St near Claymore Rd at Sippy Downs.

Mr Allen’s sister posted a GoFundMe shortly after the incident, describing her brother as an amazing uncle, brother, son and nephew.

“He was a son, brother, nephew and an amazing uncle,” she said.

“My parents are shattered and I would love to get help with helping them pay for funeral cost.”

On Thursday morning the GoFundMe had raised $1282 of the family’s $5500 goal.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman today said a police investigation was ongoing and no charges were laid.

A social media post shared on Monday described Mr Allen as a “kind-hearted person” who had not yet reached his full potential in life.

“You loved your bike and you were a kind-hearted person and would drop everything to help me when I needed it, you were always good for a beer and a laugh and would confide in me,” the post stated.

“I really wish what happened wasn’t true, and I hope to wake up to see you having a beer downstairs in the shed one last time. Love you mate, rest well.”

The post prompted an outpouring of grief from family and friends.

“No!! Not Jayk Allen that’s not fair! The ‘porcelain engineer’ of Spero, the sweetest guy! My heart is breaking for you and the family,” one comment stated.

A separate comment described Mr Allen as a “genuine guy, always up for a chat”, while another paid tribute to the 23-year-old as an “absolute legend, left us far too soon”.

On Monday, small pieces of debris was still evident on the roadside along with the yellow spray paint markings made by police officers tasked with the crash investigation.

Palm fronds and red leaves were arranged and tied to a speed limit sign.

A large oil stain was also visible on the road.

The 54-year-old driver of the car towing the boat was not physically injured in the crash.

On Monday, police stated investigations into the crash could take some time and no charges had been laid.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen the crash or could have relevant footage to come forward.

The horror incident comes as the state government released shocking statistics showing a 25.5 per cent increase on the five-year average of motorcyclist deaths in the state in 2024.

A total of 77 motorbike riders were killed on Queensland roads over the past 12 months.
