Footage of a condescending Rowan Baxter blaming his wife when he was caught driving an unregistered vehicle has been released by a coroner.

The footage was discussed at the inquest into the murders of Hannah Clarke and her children Aaliyah, 6, Laianah, 4 and Trey, 3, killed by their father in 2020 in one of Australia’s most horrific acts of domestic violence.

Baxter murdered his family by dousing them in petrol and setting them alight after Hannah left him following years of abuse.

The footage, captured in late 2019, shows an unrepentant Baxter blaming Hannah for not paying the registration - and blaming her again when the officer mentioned he had been caught driving an unregistered vehicle in the past.

“Hey driver … Kate from Capalaba road policing,” the officer introduces herself, before explaining to Baxter that the car he was driving was 82 days past its registration expiry.

Hannah, in the passenger seat, can be heard exclaiming that she had thought the registration was due in October.

“Don’t talk to me about it, cause it’s your car,” an angry Baxter tells her.

The officer asks Hannah why the car is not registered to her if, as Baxter claimed, the car belonged to her.

“Oh, no, just that we both drive the same car,” Hannah says.

“We had no idea!”

The officer continues by revealing that Baxter had been fined in 2016 for driving unregistered and uninsured.

“Which would be the same one what she’s done again,” he says.

Baxter can be heard continuing to blame his wife as the officer explains the procedure for re-registering the vehicle.
