The decade-old mystery of Tina Greer’s murder may never be solved after a controversial call by the Queensland Coroner, with her daughter left shattered by the sensational decision.

A young woman haunted by her mother’s suspected murder over a decade ago has been left shattered after the Queensland Coroner sensationally ruled not to stage an inquest into her death.

Tina Louise Greer, 32, disappeared from her Beechmont home in the Gold Coast hinterland in January, 2012 after going to visit her boyfriend, a notorious outlaw bikie.

He was treated as a major person of interest but was never charged and later died in a car crash.

Now Tina’s daughter Lili, who was just 13 at the time, has suffered more heartbreak after a coroner decided to close the book on the decade-long investigation without holding an inquest.

Lili had spent the morning with her mum shopping for school supplies before Ms Greer made the drive to visit her boyfriend Les “Grumpy” Sharman, a member of the Finks bikie gang who lived at Spicers Gap in the Southern Downs.

Ms Greer’s car, a maroon Holden Commodore, was later found locked in the car park of the nearby Governors Chair Lookout, but none of her valuables were missing and she was never seen again.

Sharman did not consent to interviews with detectives beyond an initial missing persons report and never faced any charges.

He died in a car accident in 2018. Speaking to The Courier-Mail, Lili, now 23, said the coroner’s decision made it almost impossible to find closure over her mum’s death.

“It’s always been clear Les murdered my mother,” she said.

“Despite the evidence he was never convicted. The fact that her case wasn’t even presented to a jury while he was alive is appalling.

“I’m disappointed in the investigation process and the fact that I had faith in the justice system in the first place.

“We have let her down and now we are giving up. This is not closure.

“I honestly don’t have the right words to describe how disappointing it is.”

Lili made a public plea to seek justice for her mother two years ago when the Queensland Police Service announced a $250,000 reward amid renewed efforts to solve the case.

Detectives, who believed Sharman was responsible for Ms Greer’s death, later raided a property at Bonogin in the Gold Coast hinterland belonging to a Lone Wolf bikie, seizing clothing and other evidence, but the investigation struggled to progress any further and a report was prepared for the coroner.

In a statement, a spokesman for the Coroners Court of Queensland confirmed no inquest would be held into Ms Greer’s death but did not explain why.

“The investigation into the death of Ms Tina Louise Greer has been finalised by Coroner Christine Roney,” the statement said.

“It was determined an inquest was not required.

“The findings have been provided to the next of kin.”
