Two brothers accused of murdering a young woman at Caboolture in the days leading up to Christmas have appeared in court for the first time.

Brothers Codye Ian Thomson, 29, and Kaine Raymond Thomson-Gleeson, 32, had their matters briefly mentioned in Brisbane’s Arrest Court on Tuesday morning.

They are each charged with one count of murder over the December 22 shooting of Chloe Jade Mason.

Police allege the 23-year-old was chased and shot dead on Railway Parade, Caboolture, shortly after midnight.

The brothers were arrested without incident on Monday at Logan in parkland off Civic Parade.

On Tuesday, defence lawyer Brendan Beavon requested his client Codye Thomson’s matter be adjourned to Caboolture Magistrates Court on January 13.

He said a full brief of evidence would need to be ordered.

Thomson-Gleeson’s lawyer Ken Mackenzie asked for his client’s matter to be adjourned to the same day.

Mr Mackenzie told media outside court that the police media release following his client’s arrest failed to mention that Thomson-Gleeson had been found “metres away” from the police station.

He claimed his client had intended to hand himself in.

He further claimed it was not in dispute that Ms Mason had come to the front of Thomson-Gleeson’s house on the night of her death armed with a rifle.

“Kaine explained to police that he did not kill Chloe,” Mr Mackenzie said.

Both brothers were remanded in custody.

Prior to their arrest, Thomson and Thomson-Gleeson seen in New South Wales on December 30, believed to be camping or sleeping rough according to police.

The brothers had previously been interviewed by police as witnesses after the shooting and were released without charge.

“At that early stage of the investigation there was simply insufficient evidence available to indicate their involvement with this homicide,” Detective Inspector David Harbison told media on Friday.

“ … The investigation has now established that the deceased was known to these male persons”.
