Disturbing police radio has captured the moment cop killers were gunned down in a firefight with specialist police in rural Queensland.

It came after two police officers, Constable Matthew Arnold and Constable Rachel McCrow, along with neighbour Alan Dare were shot dead in horrific scenes at Wieambilla, south of Chinchilla, about 4.40pm Monday.

Three suspects, Gareth Train, his brother Nathaniel - a former Queensland school principal, who had been the subject of a missing persons notice by New South Wales Police - and Gareth’s wife Stacey Train – a former teacher at Tara Shire State College – were killed in the police firefight late Monday night.

Now chilling audio has emerged, revealing the moment the killers were shot.

“We believe POI (person of interest) 2 may be discharging rounds. Shots fired,” a male officer says over the radio.

“It appears POI 2 is attempting to reload. POI 1 potentially taken a round here. POI 1 no movement. No movement from number 2 and appears to be blood on the ground,” he adds.

Const. Arnold and Const. McCrow had been killed by a wall of bullets in an execution-style ambush when they arrived at the scene with two other officers - Constable Randall Kirk, who suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and Constable Keely Brough who was hunted through bushland by the gunmen as they lit a fire in a bid to smoke her out.

After Const. Arnold and Const. McCrow were shot it’s understood the gunmen, who were wearing camouflage, fired further shots into their bodies and took the officers’ glocks.

Neighbour Alan Dare was also shot and killed by the armed offenders when he came out to investigate the commotion.

Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) officers were sent to the scene and a firefight ended the violent day about 10.30pm.
