Attempted murder charges against a pharmacist accused of setting fire to a house, while his wife and mother-in-law were inside, have been dropped by the prosecution.
Curtis Shea Mickan is alleged to have set fire to his Wooloowin house in May, last year, soon after being released from custody after a domestic violence incident.
Mickan, 36, was not charged, but was released with a notice that he was not to return home.
Emergency services were called to Mickan’s Eveleigh Street, Wooloowin home early on Sunday, May 16, last year, following reports of a house fire.
The fire destroyed the home but the two women inside escaped without injury.
Mickan originally was charged last year with offences including two counts of attempted murder and two counts of arson.
Mickan, who is in custody, appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday, via a video link from prison.
The prosecution offered no evidence on the attempted murder charges, one count of arson and one count of wilful damage, with some other charges substituted.
Mickan said he wanted to pleaded guilty to one count of arson of a building, three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, one count of choking, common assault and wilful damage.
He will be sentenced at a future date in Brisbane District Court.
In July, last year, Mickan was suspended from working as a pharmacist for an indefinite period.
