An alleged looter has faced court accused of stealing from a man police claim was murdered in Fortitude Valley last month.

Marley Keenan Lavell Fisher, 26, faced Brisbane Magistrates Court Thursday on charges of stealing by looting and stealing.

According to court documents, police said Fisher stole a bag, belonging to Lauie Michael Tagaloa, that had been left unattended because of his death on July 11 at the Valley Metro retail precinct, above the Fortitude Valley train station.

Police allege Mr Tagaloa, 24, was murdered by Seyram Kwami Djentuh, 20, at the complex in an unrelated clash.

Footage of the altercation shows Mr Tagaloa allegedly being stabbed in the neck during a brawl between two groups before collapsing to the ground.

During the fight, Tagaloa left his possessions unattended and it’s alleged Fisher stole them.

He is not accused of being in involved in the alleged murder.

The Lawnton resident has also been charged with stealing the mobile phone of another man at the shopping precinct.

His matters were briefly mentioned in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Roma Street Thursday.

The case was adjourned to September 7 to allow his Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Service lawyer to case conference the looting charge.

Fisher was granted bail on his own undertaking.

Hundreds of mourners bid farewell to Mr Tagaloa at a funeral service in Sandgate in July.

Djentuh remains in custody on one count of murder.

His matter is scheduled to return to court on Monday.
