Alleged bikies arrested over alleged stabbing

Four alleged Mongols bikies have been accused of assaulting a member of a rival gang outside a Helensvale gym.

It is alleged the daylight incident on Millaroo Drive at 2pm on Monday left a man with a wound to his shoulder.

The accused men include well-known Harley Barbaro and his best friend Sonny Jenkins.

It is not clear what gang the alleged victim belonged to.

“At approximately 2pm on Monday, February 28, a group of men outside a business premises on Millaroo Drive were involved in an altercation,” police said in a statement.

“It will be alleged up to five men viciously assaulted another man, before fleeing the area in multiple vehicles.

“The alleged victim received non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the assault.

“Early this morning officers from Taskforce Maxima executed multiple search warrants across the Gold Coast and arrested three men in relation to the incident. A fourth man was charged whilst in custody for an unrelated matter.”

The men were charged on Friday with assault occasioning bodily harm in company and as a participant of a criminal organisation.

Barbaro, 29, is the brother of underworld figure Pasquale Barbaro, who was shot execution-style in Sydney in 2016.

The four men were brought into the Southport watchhouse early on Friday morning.

One gave the finger to cameras and mouthed the words “f*** off” through the window of the police car.

Investigators are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident on Millaroo Drive, in the vicinity of Millennium Circuit, or has further information to contact police.

Anyone with relevant dashcam vision taken in the area at the time on the incident that captures the assault, or a white Range Rover or black Mercedes SUV is also encouraged to come forward.

The four men, who police will allege are all Mongols OMCG members, have been charged conjointly and will appear at the Southport Magistrates Court on Saturday.

A magistrate who granted him bail said it was ‘extraordinary’ that he was held in custody for 30 hours for what she described as relatively minor offences.
