A woman has been charged after police released footage of a van hitting a speed bump and becoming airborne before smashing headfirst into two parked cars in the Bundaberg region earlier this month.
CCTV footage released by Queensland Police showed the van speeding through a carpark on Woodgate Esplanade on June 3.
Police will allege the van was heading north on the Esplanade before colliding with a woman in her 60s on a bike who was later transported to hospital with multiple fractures.
It’s understood the van then continued through a garden bed and into a palm tree, narrowly missing pedestrians, before sideswiping a number of parked cars and crashing into two other parked cars.
The driver, a 62-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital where it was found she was over five times the legal limit, returning a Blood Alcohol Concentration of 0.258 per cent.
She was issued with a Notice to Appear charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle whilst adversely affected by intoxicating substance.
She’s due to appear in Childers Magistrates Court on August 12.
