KING of the country cups Bryan Guy has his fingers crossed the lucky run can continue when Anagold heads to the $200,000 Listed Caloundra Cup on Saturday.

The form out of Anagold's Ipswich Cup win was franked when Rialya, fourth at Ipswich, beat more fancied runners in Saturday's Tattersalls Cup.

It sets the stage for an enthralling Cup at Corbould Park this week, with Anagold and Ipswich runner-up High Kin taking on Shenzhou Steeds and Ibicenco if that pair pull up well from the Tatts Cup.

Guy, who stayed at the Gold Coast and saddled three winners while foreman Russell Booth looked after Anagold, said he was not overly confident of success at Ipswich, but "thought she would run a race".

"Janette Johnson rode her on the Tuesday and was glowing when she came back," he said.

"Nine out of 10 times, luck in running plays a part in the outcome of big races. Look at Linton in the Stradbroke.

"Tony (Pattillo) had the same thing happen at Ipswich, and hopefully we can get more this week."

Guy dodged the carnival's main Group races in favour of contesting the Ipswich, Caloundra and Grafton Cups with Anagold.

He is having good success tackling the out-of-town features. Dienekes won the Gatton Cup this month. Guy also had Whispering Gap finish third in the Beaudesert Cup on Saturday.
