Eye-catching grey Chain Of Lightning, a surprise winner of this year’s Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes, has been retired.

Trainers Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman advised Racing Victoria stewards on Tuesday that the talented daughter of Fighting Sun had run her last race after a disappointing start to the spring.

Chain Of Lightning was well off the pace in two starts this preparation and will need take up a spot in the breeding barn at Yulong.

The six-year-old sprinter enjoyed her finest moment on track earlier this year when she saluted as a $21 outsider in the TJ Smith Stakes during The Championships at Royal Randwick.
