KELSO Wood has confirmed Someday is likely to push on to Saturday's Glasshouse Handicap on the Sunshine Coast, with Michael Cahill to retain the ride.

Wood was furious with Cahill's ride on the gelding at Eagle Farm on Saturday, when the jockey pushed forward then went back before finishing third behind Fire Up Fifi.

Wood said Cahill should have gone to the front in the slowly run race, but the trainer's stance appears to have softened since viewing replays several times.

Wood said he was initially so disappointed he barely spoke to Cahill after the race, but he has again booked the jockey for Saturday's Glasshouse (1400m).

"I thought he should have ended up in the box seat or probably led with the slow pace - there is not much more I can say," Wood said.

"I didn't say much to anyone after the race. There wasn't much to say.

"The horse is well and provided everything goes well the next couple of days, he will be going to the Glasshouse."

Cahill maintains he has been unfairly criticised for his ride, claiming he was the victim of circumstances.

"I didn't really want to lead; I wanted to be in the first few but I wanted a horse to follow," Cahill said. "I gave him a dig to come across and tried to get a nice run behind them, but I was a victim of circumstance after that.

"Everything changed and I was behind a few horses; I wasn't in a helicopter, to be able to fly over them."

Someday is something of an untapped talent, and has been the itch that Wood hasn't quite been able to scratch.

The trainer felt the horse got too far back in several recent races, and he replaced Chris Munce with Cahill, but again endured a luckless run last Saturday.
