Queensland schoolgirl sprint sensation Hilal Durmaz is so quick, she is an outside chance of making for 2020 Toyko Olympics relay team.
Durmaz, a year 10 student at St Peters Lutheran College, scorched to a wind assisted time of 11.54 in the 16 years 100m dash at the Australian All Schools track and field championships held in Perth last week.

Good judges say while the 2020 Olympics were most likely out of her reach, she was the type of athlete capable of a big jump in times, such was her progression and ability.
The Heathwood resident was ranked No.1 100m sprinter in her age group and No.2 for the 200m.
Durmaz was realistic about her 2020 Olympic prospects, saying: “I have to really pull something out.

“Next year we are trying for the Olympics,’’ Hilal said.
“But if it does not happen, it is fun. There are plenty more.
“There is a chance. I have to really pull something out, but there is a chance.’’
The explosive athlete, one of eight athletes from St Peters who qualified for the Australian All Schools Championships, was not always a child sprinting prodigy.

“I feel like I was not that fast when I was younger, then I grew up and dedicated myself,’’ Durmaz said.
So where does her speed come from?
“It is weird. My dad was a (soccer) goalkeeper and mum did not do anything so I guess it is just luck,’’ she said.
Durmaz said she enjoyed the pressure and expectations from being the fastest sprinter in her age group.
“People can take it (pressure) the wrong way, but I like it,’’ Durmaz said.
