16 athletes have been named finalists for the Gold Coast Sports Awards across three different categories after a stunning year of achievement on the Coast. See who made the cut.

The 56th edition of the Gold Coast Sports Awards are set to honour three tremendous athletes who will be recognised following a strong year for Gold Coast sportspeople.

The awards night is set to be hosted at RACV Royal Pines Resort on Saturday March 1, kicking off from 6.30pm.

The full list of nominees can now be revealed, with six athletes in the running for the coveted Sports Star of the Year, while a further five were Parasport Star of the Year finalists.

Rugby Sevens talent Maddison Levi, who announced herself on the world stage in Paris with a record-breaking Olympic display is among the Sports Star of the Year finalists, as is 12-time world championship winner and 2024 Paralympic gold medallist Curtis McGrath for the Parasport Star of the Year.

McGrath is joined by 16-year-old para surfer Kai Colless who became a world champion in 2024.

Skateboarding phenom Arisa Trew, who became an Olympic gold medallist at just 14 years old in Paris, headlines the six ‘Junior Sport Star of the Year’ finalists, while also earning a nomination in the senior category.

Tennis prodigy and world number one junior Emerson Jones is in the running for the junior award, having won 33 of 41 matches in 2024 and also picking up her first senior ITF tournament title in Sydney. She was granted a wildcard into the Australian Open main draw.

The Southport School basketball product Indy Cotton was nominated after he represented Australia at the under-17 World Cup, while Aussie rules talent Leo Lombard captured headlines off the back of being crowned MVP at the under-18 national championships and being drafted by the Gold Coast Suns inside the top 10.

Zane Harrison had a year to remember in rugby league, leading Palm Beach Currumbin to the national title and winning every individual award he could before being elevated to a development contract with the Gold Coast Titans.

Prodigy Max Durrington etched his name into Australian baseball history when he signed an MLB contract with the Oakland Athletics that carried a signing bonus in excess of $1 million AUD.
