There are players from the country players, young Sydney guns and the sons and nephews of famous footballers from both the NRL and rugby in the Gen Blue under 16 squad named for a series of games later this year.
Brad Fittler’s son Zach, who also plays rugby league and attends The Scots College, has made the squad.
Also is his schoolmate Toby Brial, son of former Wallaby Michael.
Another youngster with a well known surname is Tom Farr-Jones, whose uncle Nick also played rugby at the highest level.
NSW selectors named the squad following numerous selection matches and the hotly contested City v Country championships at Bathurst late in August.
Farr-Jones, from the Randwick rugby club, well known for its rugby nursery, was one of the players who competed in the championships at Bathurst.
Numerous players from outside Sydney also forced their way into the high profile squad of rugby’s rising stars
These include the likes of centre Charlie Heidke from the Illawarra, a standout for Country against City at the Bathurst tournament, Darcy Brown from the Hunter and Riley Evans from the mid north coast.
The squad will meet at the end of the month for an induction at NSW rugby headquarters with their first outing against their Queensland Reds Academy opposites on October 9 in Brisbane.
The under 16s will then play the Brumbies in Sydney on October 16, the Rebels in Sydney on October 23 and Western Force in Perth on November 5.
A final will be played on November 13 at a venue still to be determined.
