Radio commentator Peter Psaltis came up with what could only be termed a “shock selection” when he picked Anthony Milford at halfback in his Broncos Team of the Decade.
Milford has played mostly at five-eighth and fullback for the club, but Psaltis was determined to find a place for him.

“My biggest decision was halfback and in the end I went for Milford because I just couldn’t leave him out based in his 2015 season,” said the 4TAB Ubet Breakfast show host. “Obviously Darren Lockyer is going to be there at five-eighth and Darius Boyd has to be fullback, so it was between Ben Hunt and Milford for the number seven.
“I think a lot of people forget the season Milford had in 2015 but he was awesome that year. It’s a shame he hasn’t been able to replicate that form since but even so, on that season alone, I’ve got him in my starting side with Hunt on the bench.”
Another tough choice was between Alex Glenn and Ben Te’o in the backrow.
“They’re both great players but in the end I went for Alex on sheer numbers,” he said. “When I went through the list of all the players from the decade I decided only to consider those who had played more than 20 games and in the end that’s what it came down to. Alex played 233 games and Ben played 57. Simple as that.

“The funny thing was, when I sat down to pick the side I went through about five or six different versions. I came up with a team and then I chopped and changed for a few hours. Then, in the end I settled on the side I had picked in the first place. Sometimes it’s best to go with your first instinct.”
