The full house sign went up early at John McDonald Sports Complex at the weekend and for good reason.
With the fifth Walker Weekend Challenge kicking off early Saturday morning some of Toowoomba Junior Rugby League’s best male and female under-13 teams squared off against each other and clubs from Laidley, Roma, Warwick, Jimboomba and the South Burnett.
For the first time in the challenge’s history organisers had to turn away clubs.
Huge crowds turned out for every game during the two-day challenge and they were treated to some exciting junior rugby league action.
Aside from the excellent quality of football another major highlight of the challenge was the manner in which players conducted themselves.
Injuries reduced a number of teams to a bare minimum of starters and reserves but they all soldiered on rather than forfeit.
There were also a number of cases where players stopped play to protect injured players on the field.
With the challenge wrapped up for another year here’s a look at every major award winner and the male and female all star teams.
