Keebra Park responded to last week’s seven-try drubbing at the hands of Wavell State High with a 24-0 shutout of Marsden State High in the second round of the Langer Cup.
Four tries, two in either half, were a direct result of the pressure of the famous Keebra Park “Blue Wall” in defence.
Two tries to centres Tuvalli Khan-Pereira and Jahream Bula followed errors forced by strong kick chase while further tries to lock Tyrone Gunn-James and prop Isaac Matalavea-Booth also followed mistakes.

Keebra Park coach Glen Campbell said the defensive improvement shown by his students had revived NRL dreams that hit life support after the capitulation to Wavell.
“The boys were hanging their head in shame last week walking around school, questioning their football careers,” Campbell said.
“The Blue Wall is part of our emblem and in years gone by we’ve always been a tough defensive side.
“We scored 26 points and lost last week, this week we scored 24 and won – that’s all defence.
“(Improving) that was our focus this week and I was impressed by how well they stood up.”

Big-bodied five-eighth Dave Telea created two tries in the first half and kicked with purpose to put his side ahead 12-0 at the break.
A Herman Tafaeono charge-down brought Keebra into the red-zone where a Telea dummy-pass carved a hole, Telea finding Gunn-James with an offload for the opening points.
Telea’s accurate kicking forced a mistake as Marsden bobbled a high bomb in-goal for Tuvalli Khan-Pereira to score.
It was a similar scene in the second half as kick-chase pressure forced a knock-on from Marsden fullback Jodeci Tiraha on his own tryline, chased down by Titans junior Jahream Bula.
Matalavea-Booth hit a hole midway through the second half to extend the Keebra lead to 22-0.
Goalkicking halfback Connor Te Kani’s late penalty was the dagger, taking Keebra to the final score of 24-0.
The win came at some cost for Keebra as impressive forwards Blake Mozer, Gunn-James and Jeremaiah Tamepo were asissted off the field.
Marsden star five-eighth Tony Francis left the field injured late in the second half.
Keebra Park SHS 24 (Tyrone Gunn-James, Tuvalli Khan-Pereira, Jahream Bula, Isaac Matalavea-Booth tries; Connor Te Kani (3/4) conversions, (1/1) penalty goal) defeated Marsden State High School 0
