The sound of the school bell at the end of the day is always welcome for children, but it was even more meaningful recently for Georgia Harris when she learned of her selection in the Queensland under 15 hockey side.

The sound of the school bell at the end of the day is always welcome for children, but it was even more meaningful recently for Georgia Harris when she learned of her selection in the Queensland under 15 hockey side.
“Teams came out on the Queensland hockey website while I was at school, so mum let me know in the afternoon,’’ the Kedron State High School student said.

“Mum had printed the team list and asked me to read it, then I saw my name.’’
Although the national titles were cancelled due to the coronavirus crisis, selection for the Arana Ascot junior hockey club player followed her winning a gold medal last year as a part of the Queensland under 13 team which competed at the national titles.
Harris said her club mates at Arana Ascot were playing a role in helping her into representative teams.

“All the girls are so friendly and at the same time very competitive. So we all want to do well and keep developing at our own game,’’ she said.
“It kind of feels like a family where everyone is wanting everyone to do well.’’
STELLA HARRIS NOTCHES UP ANOTHER REP MILESTONE
Harris said the competitive nature of the sport and “hanging out with 15 of my friends’’ were among the most enjoyable aspect of the sport.
