Discover where every player ranks in the QAFL in our new interactive panel. With stats from every round see the total averages of each player and much more. ALL THE STATS RIGHT HERE

Redland-Victoria Point duo Caleb Franks and Brock Aston are running rings around rival midfielders at stoppage and are a big reason why the Sharks loom as one of the premiership favourites this season.

The pair boast nearly identical stats across the board this season but this week we are focusing on their clearance numbers, which rate as number one and two in the QAFL after seven rounds.

Franks is the QAFL’s top extraction expert averaging 8.5 clearances per game, followed closely by teammate Aston with 7.7 per game.

Fellow Shark Jack Rolls is not far behind either, coming in equal-fourth with an average of 7 clearances per game, behind only Palm Beach Currumbin vice-captain Tyler Cornish (7.3pg).

The Sharks’ midfield is a big reason they have lost just one game so far this season.

QAFL Stats after Round 6

Death, taxes and Matthew Payne.

The three-time Grogan Medallist is the QAFL’s leading possession-getter through six rounds of the 2022 season, The Bulletin can reveal.

Payne has hit the ground running since joining Wilston-Grange and leads the competition with 168 possessions, averaging 33.6 per game.

Three Redland-Victoria Point midfielders rate in the top five - testament to the Sharks’ incredible ball-winning ability at stoppage and across the ground.

Hot on Payne’s heels are Sharks stars Caleb Franks (164 disposals @ 32.8) and Brock Aston (158 @ 31.6).

Maroochydore ball magnet Jackson Bury (152 @ 30.4) comes in fourth, followed by Sharks winger William Johnson (149 @ 29.8).

STATS RECAP ROUND 5: Hammelmann regains goalkicking lead

REDLAND-Victoria Point key forward Matt Hammelmann has regained his lead in the QAFL leading goalkicker tally through five rounds.

The former Brisbane Lions and Aspley Hornets VFL man booted seven goals in the Sharks’ big win over Mt Gravatt at the weekend, bringing his season tally to 25 in just four outings.

Hot on Hammelmann’s heels is his former Hornets teammate – still at Aspley – Connor Stackelberg.

TOP 50 QAFL PLAYERS ON THE GOLD COAST

He kicked his third bag of six goals for the season in the Hornet’s massive win over Morningside to move to 21 goals for the campaign.

Perhaps the only man who could catch either Hammelmann or Stackelberg is the 2021 leading goalkicker and Grogan Medallist, Jordan Moncrieff.

Broadbeach’s talisman returned to form in a big way against Surfers Paradise, booting 10 goals and making it 16 majors in three games this season.
