Queensland junior sports clubs receive $160k boost for uniforms and equipment

More than 50 junior clubs across Queensland will score new gear thanks to a $160k grant pool aimed at keeping kids active and included. See the full list of recipients.

Queensland junior sporting clubs from Cairns to Longreach to the Gold Coast will share in a equipment and uniforms treasure chest worth over $160,000 to foster physical and mental wellbeing in children.

The Dickinson Foundation, in partnership with the Australian Sports Foundation, has splashed around $3000 on average on more than 50 clubs covering the width and breadth of the state.

Soccer, netball, rugby union, tennis and Aussie rules clubs in addition to a host of smaller sports clubs will receive a major boost with uniforms and sporting equipment provided by HART Sport and ISC.

“Grassroots clubs are the heart of Australian sport. They build healthier, happier communities, yet they are often the most under-resourced,” Australian Sports Foundation chief executive Sue Hunt said.

“The Australian Sports Foundation is proud to work alongside our partners and generous donors to provide practical support like uniforms and equipment, and to offer clubs the tools to fundraise for themselves through our platform,” she said.

David Dickinson, of the Dickinson Foundation, said his family’s donation - around a third of which will head to Queensland clubs - would help ease the cost of living pressure on keeping children involved in sport.

“At a time when financial pressures are holding too many families back, these grants are helping local clubs to provide the uniforms and equipment young Australians need to feel included, stay active and thrive in sport,” Dickinson said.
