Meet some of Brisbane’s best young gymnasts showing out at Premier Gymnastics

The future of Australian gymnastics is in good hands with hundreds of hard working young girls perfecting their craft at Premier Gymnastics. GET TO KNOW OUR FUTURE OLYMPIANS.

From rock bottom in Covid-19 to placing in the top two in every division in the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Queensland Club Championships last month, Premier Gymnastics owner Nicki Robbins and her team are back on top.

In what is Queensland’s biggest club competition, 91 passionate, determined and talented Premier Gymnastic gymnasts from all over Brisbane put to action the countless hours of hard work they dedicate to the sport each week.

The zoom training sessions in the backyard and lounge room and the 20+ hours weekly, courageously throwing their bodies in the air to perfect their craft has paid off, coming away with fantastic results in the Caloundra competitions.

Premier gymnasts achieved great results with their Seniors crowned equal 1st overall Senior Club Champions and the Juniors crowned 2nd in the State Club Championships.

With all 91 gymnasts that competed in Caloundra having been on the podium already this year, let’s meet a handful of the young gun Premier Gymnastics Gymnasts:

Avery Hamilton

Level four gymnast Avery Hamilton is just six years of age. She is Premier Gymnastics’ youngest superstar.

Hamilton and her team train a minimum of 12 hours a week, and they performed brilliantly to earn second place all round in the Queensland Club Championships.

Jorja Gunther

One of Premier Gymnastics’ best is level 10 National Champion and club captain Jorja Gunther, a gold coast star who will represent Australia at the Friendship International Challenge in October.

With passion and drive, the Year 12 aims to compete at College in the USA.

There’s no doubt she has the talent, having represented Queensland at Nationals in May where she won Gold on three out of four apparatus and the all round title.

On top of that, she gained selection in the Australian team alongside her teammate Maxine Maxine to compete on the Gold Coast against New Zealand and Singapore.

Holly Smith:

Alongside Gunther as club captain, Holly Smith was also in the state team who competed in May.

Miranda Kelly:

13-year-old Miranda Kelly is such a “hardworking, goal driven gymnast” club owner and coach Nicki Robbins said.

“She’s so enthusiastic, she’s won nearly every event she’s entered.”

Kelly, having been crowned Border Challenge Level Seven National Champion, is at the pinnacle of her career, setting her up for a bright future in the sport.

Kelly’s goal is to represent Queensland, and her beloved club in many years to come.

Given the way she is progressing, the eventual pay-off could be representing Australia.

Robbins said the three words that come to mind when she thinks of her amazing girls are flexible, strong and agile.

“The club spirit, team comradery, and the quality of gymnastics these girls showcased at the competition was just excellent,” Robbins said.

Premier Gymnastics also has an International Rhythmic Gymnastics Program, with their girls the first Australian Group to be selected for the Olympics.

Robbins said to see the progression, growth and success of every single girl that walks through the doors of the gym makes her proud beyond words.

“ I Iove providing the platform for these kids to be able to fulfill their dreams,” Robbins said.

“These girls are courageous. They’re determined. Being a gymnast takes grit, determination and hard work. But they are up for the challenge.

With venues in Morningside, South Brisbane and Manly West, Premier Gymnastics also offers free gym classes for baby’s and a chance for mothers and families in the local area to come together.
