Sapphire Netball round 12 to go ahead after lockdown with timetable changes

All Sapphire netball round 12 games across Queensland will go ahead this weekend after the three-day Covid lockdown but not to the original timetable.

All Sapphire netball round 12 games across Queensland will go ahead this weekend but not to the original timetable after the state government announced a three-day Covid lockdown on Tuesday.

Sapphire organisers said that would change if the state government announced an extension to the three-day lockdown into the weekend.

As of 6pm on Tuesday, the state will go into the three-day closure of all major sporting facilities, public venues and arenas and people have been asked to stay at home.

The state government decree will lift on Friday afternoon and organisers on Tuesday said they were hopeful all eight games would go ahead but to different timetables to ensure stadiums were cleaned after games.

“As an indoor ticketed event, our venue remains at full capacity,” the Sapphire website said.

“Increased restrictions by Queensland Government require all in attendance to wear a mask and follow social distancing both indoors and outdoors.

“We will continue to monitor the situation in the coming days and will provide any further updates via our HART Sapphire Series website and socials as required.”
