Tanner Krebs wins the battle of Bullets teammates as Pirates earn first win in QSL

Two Brisbane Bullets stars went head-to-head in last night’s epic Queensland State League clash between the South West Metro Pirates and Ipswich Force. READ THE WRAP/WATCH THE REPLAY HERE.

Boom college recruit Tanner Krebs has won the battle of the Brisbane Bullets teammates after leading the South West Metro Pirates to their first win of the Queensland State League against the Ipswich Force.

Krebs, who joined the Bullets after several years at St Mary’s University, led the Pirates with 23 points and nine rebounds as South West recorded a hardfought 86-78 victory.

South West were boosted by the return of former NBL player and SEABL champion Mathiang Muo as well as talented guard Max Kerle ahead of the meeting with the Force with both players providing Jeremy Kendle’s side with an extra scoring punch.

However, it was Kai Woodfall (19 points, 10 rebounds and six assists) and Atem Atem (12 points) who provided Krebs with more support as they sent Ipswich to their second loss in a row.

Bullets star and Australian Boomer Nathan Sobey was impressive again for Ipswich with 29 points.

In the women’s game, it was the Force who recorded their first win of their season with a dominant 101-49 victory over former coach Brad George and the Pirates.

Former WNBL player Amy Lewis was the standout for Ipswich with 22 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists while Rachel Mate (22 points), Georgia Ralph (20 points) and Catherine Macgregor (16 points) were also impressive.

Courtney Taylor (14 points) and Awhina Axam (12 points) top scored for the Pirates.
