THE MATCHES
REPLAY: Brisbane SHS def Cairns SHS 2-1 (Girls Semi-Final)
BSHS’s Grace Fleer scored a late winner over Cairns SHS to progress into Thursday’s grand final.
Fleer swooped onto a pass from Zara Khan to score the winner five minute from time. The score 2-1.
Fleer arrived on the scene like a 100m sprinter bursting out of the blocks, stretching her right foot forward as the ball arrived near the right hand corner.
It broke a deadlock after Cairns had had the better of the second half, probing forward but being denied by BSHS’s defenders.
Both team’s traded goals midway through the first half, with Cairns SHS first onto the score sheet when Taryn Knight threaded home a wonderful goal approaching the penalty box area.
But the BSHS response was swift, with Grace Fleer, scoring.
Resplendent in her green boots, Fleer broke free and hammered home a goal with a sweet right strike of her boot.
It was 1-all at halftime, but BSHS could have led if not for the fantastic urgency and defence from left back Alana Hill.
REPLAY: Chancellor SC v Helensvale SHS 4-1 (Girls Semi-Final)
Chancellor College have booked themselves a spot in tomorrow’s grand final after a convincing 4-1 against Helensvale State High School.
It was a tough battle from the moment the whistle blew with both teams proving strong on the ball.
Chancellor College were the first to find the net with a perfect shot from Natalia Verkade.
Helensvale’s Olivia Drien put the Gold Coast team on the scoreboard with a crafty goal.
A keeping error and brilliant play though helped Chancellor go into the second half ahead 3-1.
Chancellor’s urgency to win the ball back early in the second half made it hard for Helensvale to get out of their own half.
But their defensive efforts meant Chancellor struggled to get a shot off.
When they finally did Helensvale keeper Shakira Tranquille made an impressive save keeping a ball bound for the top corner of the net out and the goal, reminding her side their hopes were not dashed yet.
Drien showed off some spectacular footwork, making a dash down the sideline – but the brilliant cross was not converted into a goal.
Chancellor’s persistence paid off with Sky Angoniolli slotting one past the keeper to put them ahead 4-1.
Coach Jeremy Stewart said it was great to get the win.
“We have a lot of older girls on the team and they really stepped up and led the team today,” Stewart said.
Chancellor will play Brisbane State High School in the final at 1pm tomorrow.
REPLAY: Murrumba State Secondary College v Palm Beach Currumbin SHS
Murrumba State Secondary College are through to the final after a hard-fought win over Palm Beach Currumbin SHS 4-1.

PBC were spurred on after the goal, pressing hard and desperate to regain control of the game.
Murrumba went into the halftime break 1-0 up.
PBC started the second half strong with two crafty shots at goal early on but one soared over the crossbar and the other was stopped midair by Murrumba keeper Beau Ross-Mitchell.
Both sides lifted as the clock ticked down but it was Murrumba’s Max Tobler all but sealed his team’s spot in the final after slotting the ball past the keeper.
Murrumba finished the game 4-1.
Ignatius Park College (Townsville) v Kelvin Grove College
Kelvin Grove College have booked a Bill Turner Cup final showdown with Murrumba State Secondary College after a strong 4-0 win over Ignatius Park College.
Kelvin Grove came out firing with several early chances at goal but it was Rylan Brownlie who found the net first -slotting a beautiful ball past the keeper.
Ignatius Park College staged a fight back but were unable to convert their chances to goals.
Kelvin Grove’s Harry Marshall placed the ball over the Ignatius Park College keeper’s head into the net to put them ahead 2-0 at half-time.
There was a bit of a battle early in the second half but Kelvin Grove’s relentless attack paid off with Brownlie putting a second past the keeper.
Kelvin Grove’s Emmet Logan knocked in goal number four late in the second half.
They will play Murrumba Downs State Secondary College in the final at 2.45pm tomorrow.
