CDRL Livestream: Edmonton storm home late to sink 12-man Yarrabah

Down by 14 points with time running out, Edmonton piled on three tries as Yarrabah lost their discipline and a chance to enhance their CDRL finals claims. RELIVE all the action.

The rejuvenated Edmonton Storm U18 side hit the half century for the second week in a row as the Yarrabah Seahawks were put the sword.

The Storm - who scored 56 points against bottom side Southern Suburbs last week - poured on the points again, this time amassing an incredible 66 in a 50-point demolition.

PREVIEW: How Edmonton plan to tame Yarrabah

Edmonton’s forwards will seek to smash and bash Yarrabah’s dangerous halves combination before turning to two exciting young Storm talents to bring the razzle dazzle to the Cairns Post's match of the round on Saturday.

The Storm will host the Seahawks in contests which promise to be highly attacking games, with both clubs featuring players unafraid to throw caution into the wind.

Edmonton’s A-grade season was over before it started after a string of losses coupled with points deductions for off-field matters, but with nothing to lose the Storm have become a dangerous opponent for any team striving for finals - which includes the defending champion Seahawks.

Storm coach Anthony Satrick knows the threat Yarrabah presents but said his team will be up for the challenge.

And the plan is simple: send damaging forwards like Lee Kennedy and Kornylius Tauimaga at Yarrabah halves Charles Murgha and Keishon Hunter-Flanders, then get the ball into the hands of teenage talents James Frazer and Dexter Mimi.

“They’ve got good halves,” Satrick said. “We will try to wear the halves out, so we’ll be sending a lot of traffic at them.

“Guys like Korny, Lee, we’ll send them plenty of traffic then get the ball to our young fellas.

“Yarrabah has plenty of experience but if we can keep them quiet we will be in with a good chance.”

Frazer is among the best talents to come out of the Far North, and after moving to Ipswich to further his schooling and gain valuable rugby league experience is set to return to the Storm for the final weeks of the regular season.

He made his A-grade debut this year and was the best on ground in games against title contenders Innisfail and Mossman-Port Douglas.

Mimi played some junior footy at Kangaroos before moving to the Storm, and scored two tries in his A-grade debut last week.
