A bullet pass honed in the backyard using her brother and father targets is one of the chief weapons of new Queensland schoolgirls half Lila Parr on display at the 18 years ASSRL national school championships at Kayo Stadium.

Parr, a Year 11 student at Chancellor State College on the Sunshine Coast, has been one of the discovery players as the unbeaten Maroons’ schoolgirls sweep through the competition.
She also has explosive pace and the heart of a lioness in defence, but it is Parr’s passing that really stands out.
“Every afternoon after school, I got either dad or my brother Bailey in the backyard for me to pass the ball too,’’ she said.
Her practice has certainly paid off.
In 2023 Parr has arrived on the league scene a little from left field. Parr only started playing rugby league this year after answering a “WE WANT YOU’’ advertisement for players from the Sunshine Coast Falcons.

She had been a Queensland rugby seven-a-side player and also a touch footballer, and was lured into league this year after being “impressed by the pathways for girls’’ in the code.
“I had always wanted to give it a go. But I had never ended up doing it until this year when the Falcons were asking for girls to come down and try out.

“I thought I would give it a go and ended up being the starting halfback at the Falcons.’’
Parr then made the Sunshine Coast representative side for the selection trials which is where the state selectors put a tick next to her name.
“I must have done alright and here I am now at my first big nationals in league.
“It is a different level with more structure, but I am loving the girls I am playing with.’’
