SPEED DEMONS

Ethan Grimshaw (Queensland Maroons)

What was that flash? It was Ethan Grimshaw blazing down the sideline. Dolphins signed, the Nudgee College student was first in the 100m at the 2022 national track and field championship. He can play wing, fullback or centre.

James Grey (Queensland Maroons)

What was that flash again? That was James Grey blazing down the sideline. The Ipswich Grammar School student was third in the same 100m event which Grimshaw (see above) won at the 2022 national track and field championship.

Gausa Dau (Queensland White)

Gausa who? Bowen rugby league enthusiasts know all about this youngster. From Bowen SHS, he is truly electric and will come off the bench to liven things up. An outside back, he has that x-factor about him and has a potential to create some point scoring chances for the young Maroons.

Timahna Tandy (Queensland White)

Observers of the Walters Cup would have seen Tandy weave his magic playing for Wavell SHS. The talented utility is light of his feet and will be on the watch list of rival coaches entering the championships. He has been named fullback.

Devine Timu (Queensland White)

A teammate of Tandy in the Wavell SHS which made the Walters Cup grand final, Timu is a swift mover who will play wing. He’s a proven finisher.

Janique Mili (Queensland schoolgirls)

Mili is a thrilling fullback or outside back talent with speed, glorious speed. She hails from a sprinting background where she has been a national medallist and on the league field has a sixth sense of where to position herself. Mili is just a natural.

Gabriella Savage (Queensland schoolgirls)

Savage hails from that rich league catchment of Cairns and northern beaches where the Trinity Bay SHS student has worked her way up from being a bench player for Peninsula at the state trials, into a place in the Queensland schoolgirls squad. She has natural flair, that’s for sure.

Nazlyn Waaka-Rhind (Queensland schoolgirls)

Her brother taught her to play fullback and she’s become a try-scoring whiz for Mabel Park SHS in its sweep to the national championship title. Our selection in the Titans Schools League Team of the Season, Waaka-Rhind is the type of player who can break a match open.

POWER FORWARDS

Tupou Francis (Queensland White)

Francis is a tough and tumble No. 13 from Marsden SHS with terrific leg drive and power. He is also highly skilled and will be a forward leader for the young Queensland side.

Marsden SHS's Tapua Francis will play for Queensland.

Tyrell Schwenke (Queensland White)

From Keebra Park SHS, Schwenke will be really important for his go forward. He is tall, well built and bends the line regularly. He is just what the doctor ordered when it comes to playing against NSW.

Christian Rivers and Lincoln Dalton (Queensland Maroons)

They are not giants, but they are power forwards with unrelenting toughness. Keebra Park SHS student Rivers gives the impression that running through a brick wall for his side sounds like a good idea while Dalton will play big minutes. Dalton attends Brisbane Grammar School.

Shalom Sauaso (Queensland schoolgirls)

The Ipswich SHS student is a young veteran who is both a power forward but also a natural ball player around the ruck. She has heaps of footy life experiences already and will be one of Queensland’s leaders at the championships.

Eta Sikahele (Queensland schoolgirls)

From Keebra Park SHS, Eta will be a go forward, no-nonsense type who will add balance to this highly skilled and in form Queensland schoolgirls pack.

Amanii Misa (Queensland schoolgirls)

A disciples of New Zealand seven-a-side player Gayle Broughton, Misa enters the championships at the peak of her powers after helping Mabel Park SHS to state and national title victories. Watch for her power play on the edge or up the middle.
