UPDATE: All Titans Schools League fixtures have been cancelled due to ground unavailability following a week of wet weather in Queensland’s southeast.
Gold Coast Bulletin and the Courier Mail were excited to exclusively live stream four matches from the third round of the competition, which included a top tier girls clash between Marsden State High and Ipswich State High.
News Corp will work with Titans Schools League organisers to reschedule the fixtures for a later date, while we are expected to return to action next Wednesday.
PREVIEW: Smarting Marsden go back to basics in the TSL
A smarting Marsden State High side have put the emphasis on the basics as the side attempts to rebound to victory in the Titans Schools League Year 11/12 girls’ competition.
A fortnight after having their hopes dashed by a last minute try against Mabel Park, Marsden will take centre stage in News Corps exclusive weekly live stream of the Titans Schools League.
They will be part of a girl’s double header against Ipswich State High from 3pm, Wednesday which will be followed by a boy’s double header featuring the Year 9/10 and Year 11/12 sides of Keebra Park.
You will be able to watch all of the action exclusively live with News Corp. See below for the full live stream schedule.
With Ipswich posing an unknown quantity, Marsden girls head coach, and Gold Coast Titans NRLW coach, Jamie Feeney, said it was a simplified approach that would be key for his side.
“We got done in the final minutes of our opening game, but I think those girls probably learnt more by losing in that tight game than if they had won it,” he said. “They are motivated to go and get a better result against Ipswich.
“This team probably lost five or six weeks of training in the first term (due to the floods). For me this is a development program. It is about teaching them the intricacies of playing rugby league. We don’t play flash footy, we just do all of those little things right.”
While the Marsden program has several fresh faces this season, the side is not without its leadership and will be led by the likes of Sienna Lofipo, India Seeto and Montaya Hudson who were all selected in the Queensland Open Schoolgirls side at the conclusion of last week’s state championships.
Marsden High also had three players picked in the Queensland Under-15 Schoolgirls side in Janique Mili, Lily Lewis and Porche John. All three will feature in the opening live stream game of the afternoon against Ipswich High.
The boys Titans Schools League double header will see Keebra Park Maroon face off against fierce rivals Palm Beach Currumbin in the Year 9/10 game at 5.30pm before Keebra Park meets Beenleigh in the Year 11/12 Division 1 clash at 6.30pm.
