After a strong arrival on the elite schoolboys league stage in 2021, Forest Lake went up against heavyweights Wavell in Round 1 of the Walters Cup. WATCH THE REPLAY!

While the soon-to-be stars of tomorrow lace up in the Langer Trophy, the next crop underneath them will be making waves of their own.

The Year 10 teams of Wavell State High School and Forest Lakes will go head to head in the opening round of the Walters Cup, with the game to be livestreamed here from 3.30pm today.

Both sides will be out to ensure they begin the 2022 competition on a high note, with the tournament to serve as a potential launch pad for the youngsters into the Langer Trophy next year.

While Wavell has become a mainstay of the elite schoolboys rugby league competitions, for Forest Lake High School, this is only their second season in the Walters Cup.

They proved they could compete with some of the top rugby leaguye nurseries in Southeast Queensland last year and will be determined to build on that into 2022.
