Sorell will be looking to make a huge statement when they clash with Lindisfarne on Saturday as they look to bounce back from an “embarrassing” loss last week.
The Eagles were completely decimated in their round nine clash with rivals Dodges Ferry and now will travel to Anzac Park to take on the third placed Two Blues.
The Lindisfarne v Sorell match will be available live and exclusive on KommunityTV from 2pm, with the women’s clash to kick off the action from 12pm.
Eagles’ midfielder Mitch Anderton said there was no excuse for last week.
“Very poorly of us the way we went about it, sort of rolled over way too easy and the effort from us just wasn’t good enough,” Anderton said.
“Our accountability and defensive acts just weren’t there but we’ve gone over that and it is a game we just want to chuck behind us and look forward to this week.
“We did have a few late outs from that morning, we had our big ruckman out which hurt us, that’s not an excuse at all, just a lack of effort from the boys.
“We have just regrouped at training and getting back to basics and doing them well, they (Lindisfarne) are a very good outfit especially at home.
“They are real good in all aspects of the ground, but their midfield causes a bit of chaos and you’ve got Ed Stanley up forward and he’s quite influential.”
Lindisfarne on the other hand are coming off a massive win against cellar dwellers Claremont, keeping the Magpies to their lowest score since round 2.
The win pushed the Two Blues into third spot with the Sharks knocking off the Eagles.
Lindisfarne’s Aiden Webster said his side won’t be reading too much into the massive win last week.
“Having the bye then playing a team that is a bit lower is probably not ideal heading into this week but bodies are fresh so can’t complain,” Webster said.
“Massive game, there is a lot riding on and I am really keen to get out there.
“They have recruited well and all over the ground they have got talent, they’ve seemed to have gelled well as a young group and you can see that on the park.
“I reckon they will definitely bounce back and will come out of the gates ready to go this week.
“But we will be ready as well so we won’t read too much into it.”
The two sides met in round three this season at Pembroke with Sorell taking a two point victory as the Eagles started the season with three wins on the trot.
