Live stream: The Brisbane Lions Academy stars ready to shine in NAB League Girls

The AFLW premiers have unearthed several top talents over the years, and these five future stars are the next ones shooting through. Find out how you can watch them LIVE.

Queensland’s top AFLW prospects will have an opportunity to press their claims ahead next season’s AFLW draft in Victoria this weekend.

A selection of Brisbane Lions Academy players will head south for a one-off match as part of the 2022 NAB League Girls competition on Sunday.

The Lions clash against NAB League high-flyers Western Jets will be live-streamed exclusively by News Corp as part of our season-long commitment to the next generation of the AFLW.

The premiership-winning club has unearthed some exceptional talent in recent years and now, the Lions are set to produce the next generation of AFLW talent.

Here are five Lions Academy players to watch this weekend.

ELLA SMITH

Academy region: Brisbane North

Smith is an elite runner with rowing background. She plays her best footy between wing and on ball.

Smart, composed and a team player with professional off field attributes. Current member of NAB National AFLW Academy.

AVA SETON

Academy region: Brisbane North

The youngster is a damaging inside midfielder who has worked hard to develop her running capacity.

Impacts every contest, smart ball user and recorded 15 tackles in game one against Gold Coast Suns.

KIARA HILLIER

Academy region: Sunshine Coast

Hillier is a talented tall and agile defender who has also developed her ability to run and impact higher up the ground.

Very clever kick, good in the air and a selfless team player.

PHOEBE BAIRD

Academy region: Darling Downs

An elite ball user and very smart with and without the ball. Quiet and unassuming off field, impactful on field with her ability to run, win her own ball and set up play from the wing.

CHRISTINE WATSON

Academy region: Darling Downs

Originally from Cherbourg and attending boarding school in Toowoomba, Christine is a raw and athletic tall with a natural competitive edge and huge desire to learn.

Despite her limited AFL experience, Watson shows plenty of ability.
