TUESDAY’S WRAP AND REPLAYS
It was a day of mixed results for Marymount College at the AFLQ Schools Cup on Tuesday, with one side advancing to the semi-finals and another crashing out.
The junior boys side romped their way to a monster 65-point win over Pacific Pines while the youth girls side fell to Loreto College by 13 points in a much tighter affair.
Both matches were streamed live and exclusive on KommunityTV, with every match replay available below.
A four-goal third term was the difference for Marymount in the junior boys clash, with a solid four-quarter defensive effort ensuring Pacific Pines didn’t register a major until the final quarter.
In the youth girls clash, Marymount trailed at every break despite remaining in the contest.
Down by four goals at the final break, they kicked 2.1 (13) to 0.1 (1) to drag the margin back but it still wasn’t enough to record the win.
In one of Tuesday’s much closer matches, it was Brisbane South that defeated Park Ridge 4.2 (26) to 3.4 (22).

PREVIEW
Marymount College will be making a push for an AFLQ Schools Cup semi-final berth on two fronts next week with the junior male and youth female teams both competing in the quarterfinals.
The Marymount junior boys team is set for a tantalising Gold Coast derby with Pacific Pines State High School, while the youth girls team will lock horns with Loreto College.
The two clashes are part of a monster two days of AFLQ Schools Cup quarter-finals action, which will all be streamed live and exclusive on KommunityTV.
The quarter-finals will kick off on Tuesday across two fields in Queensland’s southeast, before players return to the field on Thursday. Check out the full schedule for both days below.
Simon Rezo served as Marymount College’s head of sport for two years and has seen the program go from strength to strength.
The youth girls team heads into these quarter-finals after making the final four last year and are as determined as ever.
“Over the last three years since a lot of them started at the college, a lot of them play club footy and that’s now translating,” Rezo said.
“We have the same coach, Nina Carroll’s the coach and had them from year seven onwards.
“They are just a machine, they’re building cohesion over time and can pick it up and get together.
“They put us on the map these girls.”
With two teams in the quarters, Rezo hoped another strong season can help further establish Marymount as an up-and-coming powerhouse AFL program on the Gold Coast.
“For us it’s huge to be on that doorstep of that top four,” Rezo said.
“To be in the same bracket as the schools up there on the Sunny Coast and the Palm Beach Currumbin’s of the world, to be bracketed there would be the culmination of work coming together.”
For the junior boys, the squad is locked in for the local derby against Pacific Pines.
“They’re very excited, we’re on a run now, it’s almost been knocking off rounds every second week,” Rezo said.
“The boys are building that cohesion and energy towards this back-end, after a few good wins here, they’re very pumped.
“All focus is on this game, they’re not thinking beyond it.
“We know Pac Pines has a really good AFL program, they invest heavily in that so our boys know it is a great challenge and definitely respect Pac Pines and what they do.”
Brisbane all-girls private school Lourdes Hill College will feature in all three female divisions at Maroochydore on Tuesday, while All Saints Anglican School will feature across an impressive four different divisions on Thursday.
All Saints will take on Helensvale SHS and Hillcrest Christian College in the junior and senior female divisions, before their boys sides clash with St Laurence’s College (youth male) and Iona College (senior male).
