The Australian Youth Water Polo Championships, one of the nation’s biggest junior sporting events, will be live streamed from Brisbane by News Corp Aptil 14-18.

The Australian Youth Water Polo Championships, one of the nation’s biggest junior sporting events, will be live streamed from Brisbane by News Corp next month.
One hundred and thirty-four teams involving 2000 competitors across the under 14, under 16 and under 18 age groups will compete.
News Corp will exclusively stream 51 matches across five days of the championships from the Brisbane Aquatic Centre.

It includes every medal match from the top division of each age group on Monday, April 18 which culminates in the gold medal decider of the under-18 boys.
The competition features the best emerging players from across the country, runs from April 14-18.

Water Polo Australia CEO, Richard McInnes welcomed the live streaming partnership with News Corp.
“A really valuable part of the News Limited partnership for us is that it puts water polo in front of eye balls that don’t normally see water polo,’’ McInnes said.
“That is a key for us - growing exposure and awareness of the game. And the News Corp partnership is really valuable for us.
“With an event like this, not everyone will travel, so they can watch their kids play via the live stream.’’
Tokyo Olympian and Queensland Thunder star Abby Andrews, 21, said the junior athletes were fortunate to have their matches live streamed by News Corp.
“I feel so jealous that the boys and girls are streamed this year. It did not happen back when I was playing and it is such a privilege,’’ Andrews said.
“They are all going to use it and really enjoy being covered by the media. It is just such a different experience.’’
Ryan Medic, 17, a Thunder representative from the River City club, said the Youth Championship was a highlight of the season for him.
“I look forward to it every year. You get to meet your friends from interstate,’’ the
Calamvale Community College student said.
“You also get some experience playing against other states, different coaches and styles of play and you get accustomed to it.’’

Oliver Moncur, who will play for the UQ Barras’ under 14 team, said there was a sense of occasion around the championship. “We have been building up this whole year for it, so we are going to go hard,’’ he said.
St Rita’s College team member Tilley Hughes said the championship helped athletes grow as individuals and within a team.
“You get to see what you are capable of competing against other states, and not just against players from within your state,’’ Hughes said.
The championships will also be a boon for the sport and for the local tourism, with 4000 interstate players and family members visiting the region.
