Race 1 – 2YO Maiden Plate (1100m)

Tony and Maddie Sears bring them here for a purpose and YUNA IS PIERATA (3) has won both his trials. Out of an I Am Invincible mare that has been a sound producer he gets a 2kg claim for Cody Collis and will get all the favours from the ace draw.

UNDER ARREST (2) is bred for longer but won his most recent trial and will get a good run near the speed with Damien Thornton.

HANNABANA (6) is drawn awkwardly but her dam had speed and she looked sharp at a recent trial.

TREFOIL (10) had a quiet trial but is bred for speed and the Munces know how to get them ready.

Verdict – Watch the market but YUNA IS PIERATA (3) has the trial form.

Race 2 – Maiden Plate (1200m)

None of these leap off the page. NOBLE DECREE (5) kept finding one better last preparation but won a recent trial and Noel Callow has built a good association with David Vandyke. He may like longer but his dam was a Group 1 winner, a good gate helps and this is not a strong field.

STARSONUS (3) has had his chances but wasn’t far behind the stablemate Lantau Island when resuming. Ryan Maloney stays on and he has the speed to overcome a wide gate.

BOURBON LANE (4) is bred for speed and the dam has produced a Group 3 winner. With a recent trial under his belt, he can show up fresh for Kyle Wilson-Taylor.

DAITANNA (12) hasn’t been far away at all three outings since resuming. Well treated under Plate conditions she gets all the favours with Damien Thornton.

Verdict – Another market watch but on NOBLE DECREE (5).

Race 3 – Maiden Plate (1200m)

BETTER NOT FORGET (3) did nothing on debut but trials much better than that and a tongue-tie helps. He has less convictions than most and Cejay Graham will take no prisoners.

SAMMAAN CITY (6) brings Victorian form and has had two solid trials to get ready. He may want longer but Taylor Marshall will test them late.

MORE FOR READY (9) has been trying for a while and couldn’t get it done when odds-on favourite at Beaudesert last start. A placegetter at five of eight starts, a good gate helps and she will be near the speed for a long way.

PENSIERO (12) hasn’t shown a lot at her trials but is out of a mare that won at Listed level and with Tahlia Fenlon’s 2kg claim gets weight from all.

Verdict – BETTER NOT FORGET (3) to get it done.

Race 4 – Class 1 and Maiden Plate (1100m)

The enigmatic TERRITORY ASH (12) has been freshened after racing in far stronger company than this. One win in 18 starts raises concerns but 13 of those have been Saturday or black-type races. If the will-to-win is there she is a lot better than these and from gate one with Cejay Graham, there will be no excuses.

A bad gate cost WRITTY (9) last start which made ground late behind Savoldi at Doomben. She led throughout to win her maiden here two starts back over this trip and a similar ride by Kyle Wilson-Taylor has her hard to pass.

CAXTON LASS (6) has a few convictions but is very fit and wasn’t beaten far when runner-up in higher grade than this last start. She rises 3.5kg but will get every chance with Emily Lang from a good gate.

LUMENS LENNY (2) does plenty wrong but has been taking on better horses than these. He has speed and Bailey Wheeler will have him handy throughout.

Verdict – TERRITORY ASH (12) to demonstrate she knows how to win.

Race 5 – Class 1 and Maiden Plate (1100m)

Barry Lockwood knows how to get them ready, and PRE EMINENCE (3) was racing competitively in Saturday grade last preparation. He goes best fresh, is well treated under Plate conditions and from a good gate 3kg claimer Shayleigh Ingelse will take no prisoners.

ETUDE (11) has been knocking on the door this preparation hitting the line well at both outings since resuming. She gives a start but when riding for Kris Lees, Andrew Mallyon knows when to press the button.

SPARTUS (5) was dominant winning a 800m flutter here last start when long-odds on and having his second start for Tony Gollan. This is harder but Angela Jones stays on and he has the speed to overcome a wide draw.

RIVA D’AMOR (9) ran a bold race at odds when resuming and having her first outing for Leanne Harley. Her only win came when second-up and from a good gate, Jag Guthmann-Chester will give her every chance.

Verdict – PRE EMINENCE (3) brings the Saturday form.

Race 6 – 3YO Maiden Handicap (1666m)

DUBIAS MISS (5) led for a long time at debut before fading out late. Out of a Zabeel mare which won over 1600m this trip won’t bother her, and Angela Jones can control the race.

The stablemate ZOU BIG BOY (4) is another with stamina in his pedigree and made ground in the same race as Dubias Miss when resuming. With Ryan Maloney from gate two he will get every chance.

TULONG (2) ran a bold race at big odds from a wide gate at debut and should be improved. He may prefer a bigger track, but this extra distance is what he wants and from a good draw, Dale Smith will have him in the finish.

ZOULAR (3) has been trying for a while but only just missed at the Sunshine Coast last start. Jake Bayliss stays on, this trip should suit, and he won’t be far away in running.

Verdict – DUBIAS MISS (5) will be hard to run down.

Race 7 – Maiden Plate (1666m)

Since coming north, CASTERLY ROCK (1) hasn’t done much wrong at two outings for Jack Bruce. He gets to the right trip and with Damien Tornton from the ace draw there will be no excuses.

PEAR BELLINI (13) has drawn the carpark but has been brought north to get a win and showed improvement with a positive ride to just miss last start. From a wide gate she may go back but will be hitting the line.

FIRE AND LIGHT (2) has been trying for a while but hasn’t finished out of the top four this preparation. This trip suits and Cejay Graham will have him running on.

SIBEILA (12) has less convictions than most and beat all but the winner last start. She takes on all comers here but has improvement and will be near the speed throughout.

Verdict – CASTERLY ROCK (1) is ready to break through.

■ ■ ■ ■ ■

Race 8 – Class 2 Handicap (1666m)

Lindsay Gough has been having a good run of late and there is upside with the lightly raced COOL PANELS (8) which hasn’t put in a bad run this preparation and will appreciate 54.5kg. Georgina Cartwright stays on, gets the gun run from the ace and will be hard to hold out.

VALENTINO ROC (4) has been finding it hard to break through but has been around the mark at his past four outings A dour type, this trip suits and Justin Huxtable will have him near the speed throughout.

EXPRESS PAYMENT (2) has been leading and getting found out late at recent outings. Noel Callow replaces the apprentice Jace McMurray and few rate them better in running

PUCCINI DREAM (9) is a six-year-old mare which showed promise as a younger horse and resumed after a long break to place in Saturday grade last start behind Winsome Star. Better drawn here, with Samantha Collett, a repeat has her in the finish

Verdict – COOL PANELS (8) is up to this class.

■ ■ ■ ■ ■

Race 9 – Class 5 Handicap (1350m)

Strongest race of the day and plenty of chances. HERMANITA (5) strung three together last preparation and showed she was back to her best beating her own sex in Saturday grade last start She steps up in trip but there is ample stamina in her pedigree and with Tahlia Fenlon’s 2kg claim will be hard to beat.

OUTSMARTED (7) has won four out of five and done nothing wrong since joining Jake Capewell. He has been kept fresh by a recent trial and with Michael Rodd will be hard to hold out.

READY FOR ANYTHING (2) finds it hard to win but beat all but Red Defcon in the Aquis Gold Jewel last start, The gate is no help but she knows how to find the line.

QUOTHQUAN (10) is another that wins rarely but has had success at this trip previously. He resumed well and Nikita Beriman will test them late.

Verdict – HERMANITA (5) is a mare in form.

■ ■ ■ ■ ■

Race 10 – Benchmark 70 Handicap (1200m)

Saturday form is with ANAVINCI (6) which gave too much start in the Fillies and Mares Benchmark 78 won by Hermanita last start. Better drawn here, Emily Lang replaces Angela Jones and a positive ride with a 1.5kg claim will make the difference.

FIELD OF MYRTLE (8) ran second to Hermanita last outing, and the ride was queried by stewards. Cody Collis replaces Andrew Mallyon and his 2kg claim improves her chances.

The stablemate IMPENDOR (13) Is maintaining form and hit the line behind Cetainlycan last start in a Class 3. He gets back but Andrew Mallyon will have him motoring late.

TARPS (11) can mix his form but gate one helps and with Bailey Wheeler will be prominent for a long way.

Verdict – ANAVINCI (6) finds the right grade.
