Jeff Horn will meet all Tim Tszyu’s demands for 70/30 purse split

Jeff Horn will drop a rematch clause and fight Tim Tszyu over 12 rounds for a 10 per cent pay rise, saying the “generous” offer will prove whether his rival is serious about fighting the man who beat Manny Pacquiao.

Jeff Horn is ready to rumble and training hard to face Tim Tszyu over 12 rounds in April provided he receives a 70-30 split of the multimillion-dollar purse.

“That’s the offer,’’ Horn said. "If Tim really wants to fight the guy who beat Manny Pacquiao he’ll take it. If I was a young fighter coming up and was offered 30 per cent of a big purse to face the man who beat Manny Pacquiao I’d say it was very generous.’’

Horn is also willing to drop a rematch clause to make the most anticipated fight in Australia take place.

Horn’s trainer Glenn Rushton said the fight is likely to be held in Perth on either April 18 or April 22, depending on backing from the West Australian government.

While Horn had already secured a 60/40 purse split with Tszyu, negotiations had stalled over other details.

Horn said he would concede to all of Tszyu’s wishes by dropping a rematch clause and fighting Tszyu over 12 rounds instead of 10, provided he received a pay rise.

"I’m the guy coming into the fight who has been a world champ,’’ Horn said.

"Tim is a promising fighter but he hasn’t faced the guys I’ve faced. The biggest thing about his reputation at the moment is his dad’s name.’’

Tszyu wants the fight over 12 rounds because he knows Horn’s difficulties in fights — against Pacquiao, Terence Crawford and Michael Zerafa — all came in the closing rounds.

"I’m happy to fight 12 rounds and if Tim genuinely wants to face me — if he’s really serious and isn’t just trying to talk himself up — he’ll agree to the 70-30,’’ Horn said.

Rushton leaves Brisbane on Monday with Horn’s teammate Deanha "Deedee’’ Hobbs who faces American Mary McGee for the women’s world super-lightweight title in Hammond, Indiana on Sunday week.
