Retired tennis superstar Ash Barty and her husband have announced the arrival of their much anticipated first child.

Retired tennis superstar and Australian sporting royalty Ash Barty has welcomed her first child.

Husband Garry Kissick and Barty, 27, posted a photo of the bub swaddled in white along with the caption: “Our beautiful boy, Welcome to the World, Hayden!”

The former Young Australian of the Year and three-time Grand Slam winner first announced she was pregnant in January by posting a photo of her border collie along a set of baby shoes.

Barty and Kissick married last year in an intimate ceremony on Noosa’s Makepeace Island.

Her fans and followers were overjoyed at her baby news.

Fellow tennis star Victoria Azarenka posted: “Congratulations mama! All the best to you guys.”

The official Wimbeldon Instagram account commented: “Future Wimbledon champ? Congratulations!”, while the Australian Open account said: “The greatest triumph. Congratulations!”

Matildas star Sam Kerr, cycling legend Anna Meares and Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk were also among the well-wishers.
