Shaquille O’Neal and Matty Johns were in stitches after the basketball icon had a cheeky joke at the NRL great’s expense.

Shaq had a laugh with Matty Johns.

Matty Johns was on the receiving end of a cheeky Shaquille O’Neal joke that had both of them in stitches.

Johns and AFL great Jonathan Brown sat down with the four-time NBA champion ahead of his sold-out speaking event — ‘An Evening with Shaquille O’Neal’ presented by The Hour Group, which is available to purchase on Main Event Pay-Per-View.

They covered several topics in the chat, which will be aired on The Late Show with Matty Johns on Fox League tonight.

But the conversation took a cheeky turn when Johns asked O’Neal if he had ever received any offers to play in the NFL.

The basketball legend replied: “No. I could have played NFL because my hands are impeccable.”

Brown added: “You’ve got the big hands, this man’s (Johns) nickname is ‘Tiny hands’.”

O’Neal jokingly responded: “You know what they say about men with tiny hands.”

Without skipping a beat, Johns quipped: “Yes. It makes their d*** look big. I feel sorry for you.

“I haven’t heard that one buddy,” O’Neal chuckled.

Johns and O’Neal measured hand sizes and surprise, the 216cm giant does indeed have much bigger hands.

The former LA Lakers star also opened up on his softer side, revealing he just wants to be known as a nice guy.

“My mother always used to tell me make them remember your name,” he said.

“And when it’s all said and done, and they say, ‘Hey, you met Shaq, how was he?’ ‘Shaq was a nice guy, period.’ Not, ‘Shaq has this much money, Shaq owns this company …’

“None of that matters. ‘Was he nice? Was his people nice?’ That’s all that matters to me.”

O’Neal arrived in Australia on Tuesday and has done a blitz of media appearances on TV and radio.

The 50-year-old flirted up a storm with Jackie O Henderson during a radio cameo on Wednesday that left co-host Kyle Sandilands “uncomfortable”.

The marquee moment of O’Neal’s Australian tour will see him appear at a sold-out event and fan experience at Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena.

The interview, shown live on Foxtel’s Main Event and Kayo, will be an uncensored conversation about his life and decorated career as an NBA superstar, TV host, business mogul and DJ.
