In the first quarter of the Warriors’ game against the New York Knicks, Curry drained two buckets from downtown to go past Ray Allen and into top spot. Allen hit 2973 threes in 1300 games — but Curry just needed 789 games to successfully drop 2974 shots from beyond the arc.
Allen was in the house at New York’s Madison Square Garden to see his record broken, and he was all class as he embraced Curry for moving past his mark.
“Man, that’s awesome,” Allen appeared to say as the pair hugged courtside, the game having been stopped to celebrate Curry's historic achievement.
Their moment together quickly went viral, being shared widely online.
Reggie Miller, who held the three-point record until Allen went past him in 2011, was also at MSG to share in the occasion while Curry hugged his mum and dad as the entire arena applauded something special.

NBA fans were in awe of Curry achieving a record he was destined to reel in.
NBA megastar LeBron James tweeted: “Just landed in Dallas to see @StephenCurry30 broke the record and to make it even doper he did it in the GARDEN!! WOW CONGRATS BROTHER!! INCREDIBLE.”
Sports writer Dave McMenamin tweeted: “What a moment. And what a brilliant career.”
Fox Sports NBA reporter Melissa Rohlin wrote: “Often times, breaking records doesn’t mean much to players. Sure, they recite their rehearsed cliches but it’s emotionless. Tonight was different. This really meant something to Steph, especially to do it in front of Ray Allen and Reggie Miller at MSG with his parents courtside.”
Golf commentator Luke Elvy called Curry a “freak of nature”.
