Brisbane skipper Dayne Zorko says the Lions have ‘moved on’ from their deflating 47-point loss to Essendon ahead of this week’s sellout clash with Collingwood.

Less than 1000 tickets remained on Monday with more than 36,000 expected for the Gabba’s biggest AFL crowd since Brendan Fevola took on his former club Carlton in Round 2 of 2010.

“It’s exciting for the club to have Collingwood come to town. Hopefully the Gabba’s packed, certainly looks like that, but we need to be a lot better this weekend than we were,” Zorko said.

The captain held his own against the Bombers with 22 disposals but the midfielder was pragmatic about form and copping their first loss of the year.

“We moved on pretty quickly actually, I think you have to in this game, but there’s certainly a lot of areas of improvement we need to take out of that,” he said.

“We understood Essendon play a really good brand of football and we needed to be up for that challenge and on the weekend we weren’t.

Improvements will be needed if Brisbane are to best Collingwood for the first time since 2014 and all eyes will be on Dayne Beams’ return to the Gabba, despite Zorko’s insistence.

“It’s all water under the bridge,” Zorko said of his former teammate’s departure.

“They’ve got so many great names so it would be foolish of us to focus on one player, even though he’s got history with the club.”
