KFC SuperCoach 2021: All the late mail, Jarman Impey trade advice and team news ahead of Round 15

The Jarman Impey injury has ruined KFC SuperCoach trade plans. Here’s how to navigate the bombshell, including a bold DPP switch. Plus latest team news.

KFC SuperCoach AFL: Round 15 Buy Hold Sell

KFC SuperCoaches have been forced to rethink their Round 15 trade plans after forward Jarman Impey was injured at training on Thursday.

The popular Hawk, who is in more than 53,000 teams, was sent for scans after landing badly on his ankle – and there are fears the injury could end his season.

So, if you didn’t jump at Patrick Dangerfield before the bounce on Thursday, what should you do?

Trading Impey to Dangerfield next week, after official confirmation of the severity of the injury, should be atop your list of ideas.

The Geelong star exploded out of the blocks to have 71 KFC SuperCoach points to his name by half-time before slowing in the second-half and spending plenty of time forward late when the game was out of reach.

Dangerfield’s disposal efficiency of 52 per cent was, again, a concern but he finished with 97 points, following his 95-point return last week.

The signs that he’s building were there and, more importantly, his price took another hit, meaning Dangerfield will be available for approximately $492k ahead of Round 16 - a $87k jump from Impey.

Given there is no time frame yet, waiting and reassessing next week could be the smart move with any potential replacement.

St Kilda big man Rowan Marshall ($497K) will return in Round 15 but, with a breakeven of 138, and his run with injury this year, it would be a big call to jump right away.

Just breathe.

Loop a rookie - or just field one. Many other KFC SuperCoaches will be in the same boat.

Whether you follow through on your planned upgrade, however, all depends on how many trades you have left. Given the $87k difference, will you need to use more than one trade to move Impey up to Dangerfield?

In terms of immediate replacement options, Tiger Shai Bolton ($524k) and Toby Greene ($471k) are two other that spring to mind – one, in Greene, obviously, with more risk attached.

Since Round 4, Bolton has scored 96 or more in every game, posting six KFC SuperCoach tons in the past nine matches.

Teammate Dustin Martin will only cost you $70k, if you are one of the 33 per cent of teams without the three-time Norm Smith Medallist.

There’s also clear top-six forward Aaron Hall ($554k) or, if money isn’t an issue, Lion Dayne Zorko who scored a huge 174 points on Thursday night, taking his price top approximately $646k.

But, with many KFC SuperCoaches still with multiple upgrades to complete, money is probably an issue.

Especially with Impey’s $407k price tag, thanks to scores of 62 and 51 before last week’s return to form.

There’s also an interesting dual-position play to consider.

Magpie Scott Pendlebury ($424k) is almost a straight swap and he’s fresh off a 164-point score in the Queen’s Birthday clash against the Demons. And a week earlier he scored 108 against the Crows.

Why is he so cheap then?

In the previous four weeks, the Magpies skipper, who is available for $167k less than his starting price, posted scores of 50, 43, 73 and 78 after a role change.

But we now know, as the Herald Sun revealed on Friday, the move was designed to protect a cracked rib.

Pendlebury was back in the midfield against the Demons, attending 20 centre bounces, after recording 11 total between Rounds 8 and 11.

The value is there but, just remember, taking a premium from an area of the ground already devoid of consistent big-scoring options may backfire.

Impey’s injury is another reminder of how important holding onto a few trades for the run home is.

It’s likely something like this, even if not as serious, will happen again.

EAGLES STARS PUSH ROOKIES OUT

In other team news, the Eagles have recalled a string of stars and it isn’t good for the rookie downgrade options in KFC SuperCoach.

With Brad Sheppard, Jeremy McGovern, Luke Shuey and Tim Kelly named in the 25-man squad for Sunday’s clash with the Bulldogs, Harry Edwards ($252k) and Luke Foley ($161k) have been dropped.

Luke Edwards ($117k) remains on the extended bench, but given the influx of first-choice players, his role may be affected.

Elsewhere, North Melbourne young gun Tom Powell has been managed, while Josh Worrell (Adelaide) and Joel Western (Fremantle) have been dumped after one game.

In good rookie news, however, Alec Waterman is back in for the Bombers and Port Adelaide’s 2019 draftee Dylan Williams ($123k MID-FWD), Hawthorn’s No. 6 pick Denver Grainger-Barras ($184k DEF) and Tiger big man Sampson Ryan ($117 RUCK) will debut in Round 15.

At the Giants, Josh Kelly has been named – and is expected to be fit – while young ruckmen Kieren Briggs and Matt Flynn both remain in the 25-man squad, despite Shane Mumford’s return.

GWS coach Leon Cameron praised the performance of Briggs and Flynn during the week, while also, again, stating Mumford is “always battling this back injury”.
