ST KILDA’S mission to build its midfield pack will be accomplished by Thursday’s trade deadline with Koby Stevens and Jack Steele certain to join.

Western Bulldogs midfielder Stevens requested a move to St Kilda on Thursday after four seasons at the kennel.

The Herald Sun revealed on Monday Stevens was in the Saints’ sights.

Stevens, 25, polled six Brownlow votes in 12 games this season but failed to crack the best 22 in September as the Dogs won the premiership.

The fringe midfielder began his career at West Coast and has played 74 AFL games in seven seasons.

The Saints believe Stevens and Steele will offer valuable support to midfield aces Jack Steven and David Armitage.

Stevens is likely to come cheaply with the Saints expected to part with only draft pick No.50 or a future pick.

Steele, 20, played 17 games in two seasons and Saints coach Alan Richardson is a fan of his running power and ability overhead.

Several Victorian clubs were chasing the Canberra product, but Steele chose the Saints on Saturday.

St Kilda holds the No.10 draft selection and will only offer that for Steele if it receives another first-round selection in return.

The Giants hold No. 15 and could yet still receive No.13 from Carlton via Adelaide.

The Blues and Crows made no progress on a trade for Bryce Gibbs on Thursday.

Sydney ruckman Toby Nankervis is holidaying overseas, delaying a decision on his future.

The Swans wanted to keep the out-of-contract big man but he instead appears likely to accept an offer at Richmond or the Bulldogs.

But the Tigers and Dogs will not strike a trade for superstar Brett Deledio.

The Swans boast draft picks 14 and 17 — their strongest draft hand in seven seasons.

The Grand Finalist is not interested in trading in players, but could package the picks to rise up the draft order.

Sydney’s focus is to build a war chest of cash to ensure it can retain academy superstars Isaac Heeney and Callum Mills.

FAMILY REASONS: MAGPIE MARSH REQUESTS MOVE HOME

Heeney’s contract expires in 2017 and Mills the following year.

Brisbane Lions captain Tom Rockliff is yet to find a new home.

The Lions would happily offload their 2014 All-Australian, but the buyer would have to pay Rockliff about $650,000 next year.

Collingwood’s backline has taken another hit with Jonathon Marsh requesting a trade home to Western Australia for personal reasons.

Jack Frost is certain to join the Lions on a three-year deal and free agent Nathan Brown remains unsigned.

Brown’s twin, West Coast free agent Mitch Brown, is seeking a return to Victoria after wife Shae was signed by Collingwood’s netball team and the brothers have long dreamed of playing AFL together.

The Magpies and Greater Western Sydney are yet to enter serious discussions about wingman Will Hoskin-Elliott.

The fringe player is keen to play for the Magpies and purchased a property in Yarraville early this year.

Hoskin-Elliott is contracted for next season and any trade would see the Pies handover a future draft pick, most likely in the second round.

Fremantle secured Bradley Hill in exchange for the No.23 draft pick.

The deal means Hawthorn effectively swapped Hill for Tom Mitchell while only sliding nine places in the draft — 14 to 23.

The Giants traded up to the No.2 draft pick in a swap of picks with the Lions.

GWS secured No.2, 31, 51 and 60 while the Lions walked away with No.3 and 16.

The Giants are desperate to draft Sandringham Dragons speedster Andy McGrath, eyeing the half-back gun as a long-term replacement for Heath Shaw.

GWS also envisages McGrath starting his career as a defensive forward alongside veteran Steve Johnson.

But the Bombers could scupper the Giants’ plans if they hold onto the No.1 pick and take McGrath instead of goalkicking midfielder Hugh McCluggage.
