UPDATE: A SECOND Carlton player has requested a trade with Zach Tuohy following star Bryce Gibbs in declaring he wants a fresh start at another club.

Adelaide revealed today Gibbs and his management have spoken to the club regarding a trade.

Gibbs is contracted to Carlton until the end of 2019 after signing a five-year deal in 2014.

But he may now have played his last game in navy blue.

Carlton confirmed the news in a statement.

“Whilst the club acknowledges the personal reasons behind Bryce’s request, he is a contracted player and we intend to work through those matters with both him and his management,” football boss Andrew McKay said.

Later in the day, defender Zach Tuohy reportedly told the club he also wanted to be traded, nominating Geelong as his club of choice.

That news would be a blow to North Melbourne, which is believed to have offered him a four-year deal.

The path to the Cats is far from simple; Geelong doesn’t have a first-round draft pick and it is also keen on doing a deal for Richmond star Brett Deledio.

The Gibbs bombshell was the first of many on the opening day of the trade period after Adelaide emerged from talks at Etihad Stadium and revealed the discussions.

“Bryce and his management have spoken to the Adelaide Football Club and he’s got a strong desire to come home,” Adelaide list boss Justin Reid said.

“We also respect that he’s a Carlton football player and he’s contracted, so we’ll leave it at that for the meantime.”

The Crows currently hold pick No.13 in the draft, which will more than likely be a starting point to get a deal done.

But Reid stopped short of revealing what Adelaide is willing to offer for the 27-year-old.

“We’ll have discussions behind-the-scenes and work through it,” he said.

“It’s early days — he’s a contracted player so probably don’t want to get too much into it right now.”

Two weeks ago the Gibbs camp denied the former No.1 draft pick was set to walk out on the Blues mid-contract.
