The 2023 QAFLW grand final is just around the corner and it is tipped to be a close one.
Aspley and Bond are gearing up for the showdown, to be played at Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield on Sunday August 27.
The reserve grade match between Bond and Coorparoo will act as a curtain raiser at midday before the seniors take to field at 2:20pm.
With talent in every corner, we reveal 20 of the youngest QAFLW stars prepping for the big dance.
They might be younger than your favourite 2000s tunes, but these teens know how to play and are well on track for the AFLW stage.

ASPLEY
Rania Crozier
Born in: 2005
Same age as: Gold Digger, Kanye West
Position: Centre half forward
Crozier is in the Australian Academy for a reason. She’s tall, with an even more impressive vertical to boast.
Holly O’Flaherty
Born in: 2004
Same age as: Yeah!, Usher
Position: Wing
Coach Luke Glacken will be the first to say O’Flaherty is one of the best. She has serious speed to burn and a wicked left boot.
Lilu Hung
Born in: 2005
Same age as: Photograph, Nickelback
Position: Centre half forward
She may have been injured for most of this season, but Hung is a ball on field and a contested mark specialist.
Ari Williams
Born in: 2004
Same age as: American Idiot, Green Day
Position: Half back
Boast elite speed off the mark, she was the champion at Aspley’s time trial testing.
Jaimie Bryant
Born in: 2003
Same age as: Stacy’s Mom, Fountains of Wayne
Position: Wing/ halfback
Bryant is super agile in the contest and can find her way through traffic. This year she racked up 164 disposals in the regular season.
Lucia Liessi
Born in: 2003
Same age as: Trouble, P!nk
Position: Centre
To quote her quote, Liessi is a clearance queen. It gets them out of trouble and adds to her decision making skills. This year she cracked 50 clearances in the regular season alone.
Abby Hewitt
Born in: 2003
Same age as: In da Club, 50 Cent
Position: Small forward
It’s simple: She’s a goal shark.
Bree McKenzie
Born in: 2003
Same age as: Bring Me to Life, Evanescence
Position: Wing
McKenzie has endless legs, making her a gut busting runner for the Aspley side who never seems to tire.
Elysse McNiven
Born in: 2003
Same age as: Crazy In Love, Beyonce
Position: Half back
She’s as tough as nails and puts herself on the line every time.
Ella Desrettes
Born in: 2003
Same age as: Seven Nation Army, The White Stripes
Position: Fullback/ centre halfback
A versatile player and physical straight-line runner.
Coach predicts: “It’ll be a tight game. We have contrasting styles, bond have speed and youth on their side, we’re a gritty, hard and physical team. It’ll be right down to the wire hopefully.”
BOND
Bella Iverach
Born in: 2004
Same age as: Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Green Day
Position: Half forward
Has excellent marking abilities and is a natural goal kicker. Iverach kicked 17 in the short QAFLW regular season along with 134 disposals.
Josie McCabe
Born in: 2005
Same age as: Since You’ve Been Gone, Kelly Clarkson
Position: Midfielder
McCabe is a super strong contested ball player who can push forward or back.
Sienna McMullen
Born in: 2005
Same age as: We Belong Together, Mariah Carey
Position: Wing
This teen is only getting better every time she steps on field. Her coach can’t help but point out her lightning speed and silky skills.
Ella Calleja
Born in: 2004
Same age as: Drop It Like It’s Hot, Snoop Dogg
Position: Half forward
A strong marking forward with a booming right foot kick.
Kiara Bischa
Born in: 2005
Same age as: Hollaback Girl, Gwen Stefani
Position: Tall defender
Bischa is a great one-on-one contest player with excellent decision making skills. She also boasts a strong overhead mark.
Ava Usher
Born in: 2007
Same age as: Umbrella, Rihanna
Position: Mid half forward
This is a name most of the AFLW circles will know of. She has an elite kick to go with her great evasive skill. Usher can play inside or outside mid with ease and is already showing her skills on the state and national field in front of eager eyes. She’s barely 16, playing against athletes much older and more experienced.
Tara Harrington
Born in: 2006
Same age as: Temperature, Sean Paul
Position: Inside midfielder
Impressive balance is Harrington’s special skill, coupled with her excellent skills by hand and foot. She clocked up 118 disposals in the 2023 regular season.
Havana Harris
Born in: 2006
Same age as: Promiscuous, Nelly Furtado
Position: Tall forward/ ruck
A tall and clearly versatile athlete in the Bond ranks who boasts a good mark and ground ball skills.
Nyalli Milne
Born in: 2006
Same age as: Bad Day, Daniel Power
Position: Half forward
Milne is another of Bond’s quickest stars, with great agility and a natural talent for kicking goals.
Georgia Johnson
Born in: 2003
Same age as: Lose Yourself, Eminem
Position: Inside midfielder
Johnson’s point of difference is no doubt her incredible endurance, plus her balance between offence and defence. Her stats prove it, with over 200 disposals in the regular season plus 18 tackles and 24 clearances. She even scored a few goals here and there. Talk about all-rounder.
Coach predicts: “I’m hoping for a win but obviously we respect Aspley massively and it will be a tight contested game. If we bring our style of footy I’m confident.”
