Young families living in Springfield Lakes will be spoilt for choice if a new childcare centre proposal goes ahead.
Isaac Consulting Pty Ltd has lodged a development application for a childcare centre, located at 96 Vedanta Drive, Springfield Lakes.
The proposal seeks to develop a one-storey childcare centre, which will have a total gross floor area of 1,208 sqm.
In addition, the proposal involves reconfiguring a lot (one lot into two lots plus access easement and new road).
The proposed childcare centre will cater to 125 children and includes two outdoor play areas, which will have a total gross floor area of 1,795 sqm, as well as 41 car park spaces.
It also aims to open from 6.30am to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday.
If approved, the childcare centre will be sited along the new Vedanta Drive extension, adjoining the existing Vedanta Centre to the south west of the Vedanta Precinct.
The new car park area shown on the proposal plans is designed to service the proposed childcare centre and the existing Vedanta Centre with a shared parking arrangement.
“Therefore, the proposed car park is to be covered by a private easement protecting the shared parking arrangement between the two uses,” Isaac Consulting wrote in their planning report.
“The proposed easement gives access to the childcare centre to a new road reserve extension and constitutes reconfiguring a lot.”
Landscaping will be provided and will include raised planters within the car park and along the proposed boundaries of the centre, as well as 3m-wide landscape buffers along each side boundary of the centre’s playground.
The development is yet to be approved by Ipswich City Council.
